Contents of the guide
The first major chapter of the guide below is a beginner's guide. Players beginning their adventure with the game will surely find starting tips useful, as well as pages with tips regarding, among others, combat, exploration, conversations with NPCs, completing tasks, crafting, health regeneration, thievery or hacking. Evenly useful should be pages dedicated to character development (you can find recommended builds here), factions inhabiting the world of the game (Berserkers, Outlaws, Clerics) and the locations of trainers, vendors, recipes, elex drink bottles, and legendary items.
Another major part of the guide is the FAQ chapter with answers to the most frequently asked questions. From it, you can easily learn what to avoid while playing (the most common pitfalls), how to amass XP easily and without effort, how to earn elexit (local currency), how to avoid dying in the initial phase of the game, where to find the main cities on the map, which abilities to choose at the beginning, and where to get a good weapon for Jax.
The third major chapter is a walkthrough for the game, which contains solutions to all types of quests - story missions (along with the ending), side quests, companion quests, and finally, faction quests that allow the player to improve relations and join the chosen group. The walkthrough is complemented by world atlas maps that show all major areas of Magalan - Edan, Tavar, Abessa, Ignadon, and Xacor.
Aside from the main chapters, the guide is complemented by smaller ones. Among them, you can find a trophy guide useful in unlocking 100% of the trophies. Moreover, you can view a page dedicated to PC system requirements, as well as receive information regarding the length of the game.
Elex: Quick starting tips
- Save as often as possible. Dying in Elex is part of the experience. Moreover, saving can save you from wrong decisions in quests. Make sure to save at the beginning of each major quest and before entering a new city or a major location.
- Opening menus and windows does not pause the game. You can easily forget about this hindrance, and in result prompt a situation where the main hero gets jumped. Open the menu windows away from enemies and in safe locations.
- Jetpack is useful when exploring. With its help, you can reach remote areas or locations that were previously unaccessible (e.g. roofs of tall buildings). Nevertheless, don't forget about the limited time you can spend airborne. Careless use of jetpack may lead to dying by falling from height.
- Gather all found loot. In Elex, inventory is bottomless - both when it comes to the number of items and maximum encumbrance. Pick up all you find, even stuff that isn't useful to you, as you can sell it to a vendor later.
- Get a companion as soon as possible. Travelling as a group is a much better idea than going solo. A companion can not only help in attacking encountered enemies, but can as well as attract monsters and make them focus their attention on himself, which is especially useful when rolling a hero that uses magic or ranged weapons.
- Take some time before joining a faction. You should complete as many quests as possible before, as some of them are available only to a independent hero. This will allow you to gather as much XP as possible, and you'll get acquainted with the factions and have an easier time choosing one.
More tips can be found on a dedicated page: Starting Tips.
