AC Odyssey: Exploration and guided mode - difference Assassin's Creed Odyssey Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: Friday, May 29, 2020
When you first run Assassin's Creed Odyssey, it will ask you in which mode you want to play. You can choose the normal mode (Guided Mode) or Exploration Mode. The first one doesn't differ from that available in Assassin's Creed Origins. The map has all the markers and players are guided by the game during main and side quests.
Exploration Mode changes the way in which the quests work. In majority of the cases the game won't show you a marker with a new objective. Instead, it will give you a few hints on where you should be heading. The game can show you a name of a region or a location. Usually, you are also told about the general direction. The hints are always displayed in the upper left corner of the screen - we have observed that their number doesn't change when you choose all dialog lines during conversation. The quests have a default number of hints that are displayed in the Exploration Mode.
When you get closer to your destination, the game will inform you that you should send your eagle. Use the animal to locate a person or a place you are looking for. After that the game will add a marker to the map. The rest of a quest goes as usual, unless it will require you to find someone or to reach another location.
- Exploration Mode is recommended by the developers;
- In Exploration Mode, players can still see all the markers for main and side quests along with interesting places (marked with a question mark).
Your choice of the mode isn't permanent. You can change it in the menu options at any point of the game.
