All collectibles
There are following collectibles and side activities to find and complete in The Southern Wilds region of Vanaheim:
- 1x Nornir Chest;
- 1x Legendary Chest;
- 1x Artefact;
- 1x Odin's Raven;
- 1x Hel-Tear
Important Note - some collectibles from The Southern Wilds are not available during the first visit to the region - you have to revisit the area later in the game. Getting to some of the finds can be made easier by switching the time of the day - we've described this mechanic in detail in Can you change the time of the day? page of the FAQ section.
Hel-Tear
Hel-Tears can only be found and closed after closing the first rift of this type which happens during Unleashing Hel story quest.
The fastest way of reaching the Hel-Tear is to travel to the same Mystic Gateway which you've used to begin exploring Vanaheim for the first time. The Tear is to the north of the gateway, and after interacting, you need to face a group of elite opponents (best to attack them one by one). Once enemies are defeated, you can close the Tear.
Odin's Raven
This one is in the air above the river west from The Southern Wilds. Start at the southern Mystic Gateway, head north, and at first opportunity turn west and you'll reach the river. The Spear will be invaluable here.
Nornir Chest
Reward: Horn of Blood Mead.
The chest is in the northern part of the region - best to explore the area at night as to avoid barricades.
In order to open the chest you have to hurl the axe at the shields. You'll locate them easily, but one of the shields is blocked by blackberry bushes - you need to set them on fire with the Blades of Chaos. They are to the left of the shield (screenshot) and if needed, use a seal created by a companion.
Legendary Chest
Reward: Wrath of the Frost Ancient - a light rune attack for the Leviathan Axe.
The legendary chest is hidden in ruins in the central part of the region. If this is your second visit to the region, use the Celestial Altar to change the time to night - this will remove certain barricades appearing in the area if it's daytime.
In the ruins you must find the hole in the wall shown in the picture.
Crouch and get past the hole to enter a secret location containing the chest.
Artifact - Upon Pursuing a Place Not Marked on Maps
Category: Kvasir's Pomes
The legendary chest is hidden in ruins in the central part of the region. If this is your second visit to the region, use the Celestial Altar to change the time to night - this will remove certain barricades appearing in the area if it's daytime.
While in the ruins, find a climbing spot to reach the building roofs. Examine them and locate a weakened part of the floor (screenshot).
Jump on it. Kratos will break through the floor, entering a hidden area containing the artifact.
