On this page of our Hogwarts Legacy guide we describe all the houses you can join during the game. You'll learn what the sorting ceremony looks like, what are the houses' distinguishing characteristics and differences.
Sorting ceremony
After starting the game and making your way to Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat will choose one of the four houses for you: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. When answering the Sorting Hat's questions, remember each house has a trait attributed to it: Gryffindor has bravery, Ravenclaw has curiosity, Hufflepuff has loyalty and Slytherin has ambition. If you disagree with the Sorting Hat's suggestion, you can also choose on your own.
Creating an account in the Harry Potter Fan Club lets you take part in the Sorting Hat's specially prepared quiz. Remember to link your Harry Potter Fan Club account to your WB Games account to transfer the quiz results to Hogwarts Legacy.

- Emblems, colors: it's easy to identify which house a student comes from due to some distinguishing characteristics, like emblems and outfit colors.
- NPCs: during the game you'll encounter many NPCs belonging to different houses, with whom you can converse or participate in additional story quests. It should be noted, however, that your house doesn't completely block access to certain NPCs.
- Dialogue: during conversations, some dialogue will change depending on your house.
- Story quests: at a certain point of the main story you may be asked to complete a specific quest, which changes depending on your house.
