This page contains the list of all achievements/trophies available in Red Dead Redemption 2. You can unlock 44 bronze, 4 silver and 3 gold trophies. Also, the PS4 version offers one additional platinum trophy. Every achievement/trophy described in our guide contains information on how to unlock them as well as our commentary that will help you get them fast and easy.
Note - Achievement/trophy guide can contain spoilers for the story and other elements of Red Dead Redemption 2.
The most important information about the trophies in RDR2
- Getting a platinum trophy in Red Dead Redemption 2 is difficult and very time-consuming. Some achievements require a lot of skill or a lot of time in the game. In order to get "platinum" you also need to unlock as many as eighteen trophies related to Red Dead Online gameplay.
- One of the most difficult achievements of RDR2 is Gold Rush, which assumes winning as many as 70 gold medals, i.e. passing all the challenges in as many as 70 different story missions. Challenges are in most cases quite demanding. What's more, they should all be completed in the course of a single mission - only then is there a chance to receive a gold medal. The game allows you to repeat completed tasks any number of times.
- The next time-consuming achievements in the game are Skin Deep and Zoologist, which assume the examination and skinning of all species of wild animals. The biggest problem in this case is that the world of RDR2 is inhabited by nearly 200 different animal species. Finding all of them can be very troublesome..
- There is no option to change the difficulty level in the game. All trophies associated with promotion in the main story can be unlocked without any difficulty.
- Some game trophies must be completed before you can advance sufficiently in the main story. Take an interest in the trophies associated with the Dutch gang camp - do them before you complete the fourth chapter. On the other hand, take care of side missions before you start the main campaign's epilogue. It's often a good idea to create manual saves (e.g. close to the end of a chapter of the main story). This will allow you to return to these points if you advance too quickly. It will give you a chance to finish and complete the unfinished challenges and tasks.

All's Fair
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze, related to Red Dead Online
How to unlock: Red Dead Online: prevent an enemy gang from completing a free game mission.
Artificial Intelligence
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Discover the fate of Mark Dragic.
Commentary: This trophy is related to the side mission A Bright Bouncing Boy, which you can take care of in Saint Denis in the fourth chapter of the game. Take a look at our walkthrough for more details. Complete the quest and wait a few days. After that, go back to Dragic's laboratory. The main character will find the dead scientist.
Back in the Mud
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Finish the first chapter of the game.
Commentary: Complete all the main missions of the first chapter, i.e. those marked with yellow marks. The first chapter ends when you reach Horseshoe Overlook.
Best in the West
Trophy/Achievement type: gold
How to unlock: Complete the game in 100%.
Commentary: Check Completing the game in 100% chapter to learn the requirements. This is a very time-consuming trophy. You have to do a lot of optional activities.
Bountiful
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Survive 3 days with a wanted letter issued after you in all states for the amount of $250.
Commentary: Wait with this trophy/achievement until you reach the epilogue. Besides the four main regions (Ambarino, Lemoyne, New Hanover, and West Elizabeth), you also need to get a bounty in New Austin.
In every state, you have to kill innocents and do other activities that will raise the bounty to $250. In each of these states you have to kill innocent people and perform other actions in order to get a bounty for Arthur that is going to be at least 250 dollars. You can check the current level of the bounty on the map of the world or by pressing the down button on the gamepad's cross.
Once you have met the requirements for bounty letters, you fortunately don't have to actively avoid lawmen for 3 full days. You can use your bed (in the gang hideout, in a hotel or in a "mobile" camp) to speed up the passage of time (you have to wait for Arthur to "agree" to go to rest again).
Note - Before you start trying to get this trophy, save the game manually. Thanks to that you won't have to get rid of a gigantic bounty for your head.
Breaking and Entering
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Recover the stash from 4 homesteads.
How to unlock: Spoil caches in 4 homes.
Commentary: You can take care of looting farms on your own or by completing the related small missions, which take place together with various people from the Dutch gang. There is one cache in each household. See other sections of our guide - about riddles, secrets and robberies, to get more info.
Breakout

How to unlock: Red Dead Online: sell 20 items to the butcher.
Collector's Item
Trophy/Achievement type: silver
How to unlock: Complete one of the collector's stories.
Commentary: For the purpose of this trophy you have to find all the secrets of any chosen group. The easiest way to do this is finding Rock Carvings - as shown on the picture above. There are only 10 of them in the whole game. Have a look at the Rock Carvings page in our guide where you can find information about where to find them.
Cowboy Builder
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Finish the "A New Jerusalem" mission.
Commentary: You cannot miss this achievement, because it is one of the missions in the epilogue of the game's main story.

How to unlock: Finish the epilogue.
Commentary: Complete all the main epilogue missions, i.e. those marked with yellow marks.
Errand Boy
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Fulfill 5 requests for getting an item commissioned by your companions.
Commentary: You can find out about the gifts that your companions would like to receive by meeting them in the camp or while completing a mission with their participation. You may be asked to bring them a specific item (e.g. a harmonica, a mirror, a smoking pipe) or a public good (e.g. a flower, an animal's pelt or a liquor). For more information on where to find the requested items, check Item requests for the gang members in RDR2.
Eventful
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze, related to Red Dead Online
How to unlock: Red Dead Online: play 5 events in a free game.
Extreme Personality
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Achieve a maximum or minimum level of honor.
Commentary: Honor is a form of reputation. It is better to fight for maximum (positive) honor by completing various good deeds. This topic is described in more detail on the How does the honor system works and how does it affect the game? page in the FAQ section of our guide. The easiest way to check the current level of honor is by pressing the down button on the gamepad's cross - at the bottom of the screen you will see a bar of honor (as shown in the picture).
Friends with Benefits
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Complete a Companion Activity in each camp.
How to unlock: Complete the activity with a companion in each camp.
Commentary: Activities are small tasks and mini-games that appear from time to time in the gang camp. These may include, for example, joining a card game, going fishing with another gang member or taking part in a Home Robbery together (example is shown in the picture above). You have to complete any activity in each camp, i.e. in chapter 2, chapter 3 and chapter 4. You can miss the trophy if you ignore all the activities offered in a given chapter.
Getting Started
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze, related to Red Dead Online
How to unlock: Red Dead Online: get a rank of 10.
Give to the Poor
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Donate $250 to the gang money box.
Commentary: The box is in the current gang camp in chapters 2-4 and is always marked with a dollar icon. The game counts everything you put in it, including cash and various types of jewelry. Return to it after a larger expedition or completed mission in which you have acquired some treasures. You must get this trophy before you complete the fourth chapter of the game.
Gold Rush
Trophy/Achievement type: silver
How to unlock: Earn 70 gold medals in story missions.
Commentary: This is one of the most difficult achievements in the game. Each story mission has from one to several challenges (e.g. completing a task in a certain time, killing several enemies with headshots), which have to be completed during a single pass. The game allows you to play tasks again and we have described it on the page How to replay missions? of our guide. In RDR2 there are more than 100 story missions to complete, which means that you don't have to fight for a gold medal in each of them. Leave the toughest tasks for later - maybe you won't have to get 100% of the challenges.
Grin and Bear It
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Survive 18 bear attacks in main story mode, killing it each time.
Commentary: This is a difficult and time-consuming trophy. Let a bear catch and throw you on the ground (see picture 1). Keep pressing Circle / B to free yourself. With Dead Eye activated, shoot as many bullets as you can towards the animal (picture 2).
Additional note - Open the world map and look for drawings of a bear. In this places, you have a higher chance of encountering a bear. You can find these animals, i.e. west of Blackwater (Tall Trees), the center of New Hanover (Heartland Overflow) or north-east of Strawberry (areas around Wallace Station).
Gun for Hire

How to unlock: Red Dead Online: accept 10 missions from a character in a free game.
Hobby Horse

Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Catch a fish weighing at least 16 lbs (about 7.3 kg).
Commentary: For this trophy, you must first get a fishing rod (see the How to get a fishing rod? Section in our guide). It is then best to take an interest in fishing waters with legendary fish. At least a few of them should weigh more. For information about legendary fishing areas, please refer to the chapter with secrets of our guide.
The Veteran side quest, available in chapter 6, gives you a chance to catch a large fish. Arthur goes fishing with his friend. The goal is to catch a legendary pickerel (see the picture above). The description of this quest can be found in our walkthrough.
It's Art
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Find a house for a squirrel statue.
Commentary: You can get this figurine during Hunting Requests. You can start them by examining posters - this topic is described on Hunting Requests page. There are 5 of these missions in total. All trophies have to be sent via mail. After that, you will receive a letter from Mrs. Hobbs. She invites you to visit her house. The woman will also give you the squirrel figurine.
To get this trophy/achievement, you have to find a home for this unusual present. You can do that by reaching the second part of the epilogue. The figurine can be placed inside the hero's home in Beecher's Hope.
Just a Scratch
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Finish the "Enter, Pursued by a Memory" mission.
Commentary: You can't miss this achievement, because it's one of the missions of the first chapter of the game.

How to unlock: Legend of the West (get all the trophies).
Commentary: This trophy is available only on PS4.
Lending a Hand
Trophy/Achievement type: silver
How to unlock: Complete all optional honor missions in the main story mode.
Commentary: Optional Honor Missions are selected story missions played in chapters 2-6 of the game. Below is a list of them, and their walkthrough can be found in our comprehensive solution for the main story of the game. Try to keep up to date with these tasks, because you can miss them. You must have all of them completed before you can get to the the game's epilogue.
- Archeology for Beginners - One of the main missions in chapter 6. Locate the mission marker in the Waipiti Indian Reservation location.
- Brothers and Sisters, One and All - One of the side missions in chapter 4. Search for a mission marker in Saint Denis.
- Do Not Seek Absolution - One of the side missions in chapters 5/6. Find the mission marker in Annesburg. You have to meet Edith Downes - the ONLY way to do that is to have a high reputation (honor).
- Fatherhood and Other Dreams - One of the side missions in chapter 4. Arthur must receive a letter and meet Mary in Saint Denis.
- Good, Honest, Snake Oil - This is the first bounty hunter's mission. Visit the prison in Valentine in chapter 2 or later.
- Help a Brother Out - One of the side missions in chapter 4. Search for a mission marker in Saint Denis.
- Honor, Amongst Thieves - One of the main missions in chapter 6. The only way to play it is to say that you want to help during Archeology for Beginners.
- Money Lending and Other Sins - This is a series of fencing missions (as many as seven) received from Leopold Strauss. Meet him up to date in the gang camp (an example of a meeting shows the above picture).
- Mrs Sadie Adler, Widow - One of the main missions in chapter 6. Meet Sadie in the gang camp..
- The Course of True Love - Parts I-III are main missions. Parts IV and V are side quests available in chapter 6 - wait until you receive a letter from Penelope. Then, you have to meet her near Braithwaite Manor.
- We Loved Once and True - - One of the main missions in chapter 2. Wait for a letter from Mary. Then, you have to meet with her.
Important note - Try to make decisions from the very beginning of the game that involve receiving positive points of honor (reputation). Otherwise, you can block yourself from accessing the Do Not Seek Absolution mission. The mission of Good, Honest, Snake Oil can also be problematic. Pay a penalty to remove the bounty from Arthur if you can't start the bounty hunter's task at Valentine.
Locked and Loaded
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Upgrade each weapon element of long or small arms.
Commentary: This is not a difficult trophy. Visit any Gunsmith, such as the one who runs a gun shop in Valentine. Select any small arms (e.g. revolver) or long weapons (e.g. rifle) and go to the Components tab. You must pay for the purchase of all available upgrades for this weapon.

Commentary: Wait for this achievement until you're further in the game, so you'll have more cash for the tasks you've completed. Visit any store. You can sell the items you bought right away. And you don't have to spend $5,000 in one go. If you don't want to lose cash, create a manual save before you start shopping.
Additional note - If you ignored this trophy/achievement during your playthrough, wait until you are done with the story. You will have more than $20,000.

Once you have selected an animal, you can also check whether it has been skinned at least once in the past.

How to unlock: Red Dead Online: complete a mission in a free game as a member of a gang that has at least 2 people.
Take from the Rich
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Rob or loot $250.
Commentary: You can unlock this trophy by robbing shops (from several dozen to more than 100 dollars for a single shop robbed), but a better solution is to search the bodies of all defeated enemies. A single opponent has on average a few dollars with them. This means that you have to search dozens of bodies, but it's a safer way to keep you from getting into conflict with the law.

Commentary: This is a surprisingly easy trophy. You have to reach level 4 of the bond with your horse and you can do this without any problems while playing the second chapter of the game. In order to build a decent bonding with your horse, apart from frequent traveling on his back, you can clean it with a brush, feed it and stroke it (e.g. when your horse gets frightened after seeing a predator).
Washed Ashore
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Complete chapter IV of the game.
Commentary: Finish all the main missions of the fourth chapter, i.e. those marked with yellow marks.
Western Stranger
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Completed 10 strangers' tasks.
Commentary: Missions from strangers are marked with questions on the map of the world (example shown in the picture). You need 10 of such tasks. If a mission is divided into several smaller parts (I, II, III, etc.), you have to count all of them in order to get them completed. Solution for side missions can be found in our comprehensive RDR2 walkthrough.
Zoologist
Trophy/Achievement type: bronze
How to unlock: Investigate all animal species in all states in story mode.
Commentary: This is one of the most difficult achievements in the game, because you have to explore as many as 178 different animal species.
