Rewards for completing the quest
- XP;
- Alohomora I spell unlocked - a new level of the lockpicking spell, viable against level 1 locks;
- The Man Behind the Moons side quest unlocked - a very important quest, as thanks to it, you can learn new levels of Alohomora (unlocking level 2 and level 3 locks).
Talk to Gladwin Moon
To be able to start this quest, your hero needs to be on level 14. Gladwin Moon can be found in The Grand Staircase of Hogwarts. If he is not here at the time of your arrival, wait in the circle.
Remove the moon from the statue
During the conversation, you will learn about the importance of Demiguise Statues , which are active only at night. Interacting with the statue will result in obtaining the first Demiguise Moon .
Demiguise Statues are one of the categories of collectibles. Beginning from this quest, you can find more of these during exploration.
Follow Gladwin
Deliver the Moon to the janitor and follow him to a different part of the castle. During the ensuing conversation, you can choose any dialogue option you like. Regardless of your answers, you'll learn Alohomora I.
Use Alohomora to open the Faculty Tower door
Interact with the padlock (you don't have to choose Alohomora from the list, it will be applied automatically). This will be your first clash with the lockpicking minigame.
- Each lock you attempt to open in the game has 2 movable mechanisms - outer and inner. They are rotated separately by applying either left or right analog stick.
- We recommend starting with the outer ring. Alter it and find the area marked in green for the gears to turn. This means that you've found the sweet spot. Leave the analog stick tilted in that position.
- Now proceed to rotate the inner ring. Again, find the area where the red color appears and gears start turning.
- Leave both sticks tilted right for about 2 seconds, and the lock will be opened.
Retrieve the Demiguise Moon in the Prefects' bathroom
Heed Gladwin's advice and activate Disillusionment, as you're entering the parts of the castle that at night are restricted to students.
Make sure to activate Revelio as often as possible so the characters you need to avoid are marked in blue and red. If the given character is moving, wait for him to look the other way.
To have an easier time finding the required item, use Charmed Compass and the waypoints on the minimap. The bathroom door is protected by another padlock and you need to repeat the lockpicking minigame.
Once you're in, follow the left side of the bathroom (as there are hostile characters on the right) and you'll reach the Demiguise statue.
Retrieve the Demiguise Moon in the Hospital Wing
Once again rely on the Compass and waypoints, and you'll reach a spiral staircase leading to the Hospital Wing.
Get past further guards (on the right, they shouldn't leave their posts) and reah another Demiguise Statue.
Return the Demiguise moons to Gladwin
You still need to sneak your way out of here, so don't disable Disillusionment. Head to the lower floors. There may be a single character guarding this path so follow him while maintaining a safe distance (screenshot above).
Keep Disillusionment activated until you leave the restricted zone. Talk to Gladwin. He will tell you to bring more moons and inform you that you can learn further ranks of Alohomora through him. This will be the subject of the next quest in the chain.
