Flame Phantom is a unique monster that you must face in The Summoning main quest. In this walkthrough you will learn where in Muspelheim the Phantom resides, how to weaken the core of the boss, and where the 3 Runic Springs are and how to properly destroy them in order to trigger the final clash with the Phantom.
Location of the Flame Phantom boss fight
Flame Phantom is a boss from the land of Muspelheim. The boss will stop the characters on their way to Surtr's forge, during The Summoning main quest.
The clash with the previous Phantom is described on a separate page of the chapter about bosses: Frost Phantom. Both fights have a lot of similarities, but also some important differences.
Boss fight description
As with the fight against Frost Phantom, your goal should be to attack the glowing core of the boss.
In addition to standard attacks, you can also fire special weapon attacks and ask Atreus to help weaken the phantom.
Fire Phantom's attacks:
- hitting the ground (red attack) - move away from the circle that appears on the ground;
- strong strikes forward (red attack) - jump to the left or right and remember that the attack can actually be a series of attacks;
- tail sweep (yellow attack) - you can parry this attack or evade it at the perfect moment;
- creating a shock wave - block it with a shield and do not let go of the block until the wave has passed you.
Keep attacking the phantom to charge its white bar and stun the boss. Things will now change significantly because there will now be 3 Runic Springs in the area and each of them has to be reached in a different way:
The first source(see the picture above) is "public," meaning you can run up to it and destroy it with any weapon.
The second source (see the picture above) is behind the lava. You have to destroy them with ranged attacks. For example, you can throw Leviathan Axe or spears at them.
The third source is hidden behind a weakened wall (see the picture above). You have to throw a spear into the rift and detonate it. After tearing down the wall, you can use ranged attacks to damage the source.
Attack the sources until the Phantom regains its full strength, as it will then become indestructible again (it is possible to destroy sources 1 and 2 one by one if you hurry up).
Resume attacking the core of the boss in order to stun the Phantom again and to deprive the sources of additional protection. Destroy 3 sources and attack the stunned boss - R3. This will allow you to finally deal with the Phantom.
