Cyberpunk 2077: Equipment Cyberpunk 2077 guide, walkthrough

Last update: Tuesday, January 5, 2021

During your exploration of the world of Cyberpunk 2077, you can find a variety of items that can be added to your inventory. This page of the guide contains information about the inventory system and what you can carry.

Key information about the equipment

The equipment has a separate tab in the pause menu - Cyberpunk 2077: Equipment - Basics - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

The equipment has a separate tab in the pause menu. You can easily make the most important changes and check the things you have collected. The main parts of the equipment menu are:

  1. Weapons - You can equip up to 3 weapons, i.e. those that can be used immediately (without reopening the menu). Try to equip various types of weapons that use different ammunition. This will make you more versatile and allow you to react faster to what is happening on the battlefield.
  2. Head / Upper body / Lower body - You can place clothes/armor in these slots. As in other RPGs, each item is described with various statistics. Besides increasing V's armor, you can also affect other attributes of your character.
  3. Special - These are "full" outfits, which you can get by making progress in the game (e.g. a suit for V). They are only cosmetic.
  4. Quick access - This is a very important section. You can set 2 quick access items, i.e. used with a single key/button. You can place here grenades and healing items (e.g. health boost).
  5. Backpack - Stores items collected during the game. They are divided into several tabs (e.g. weapons, armor, junk), so you can quickly move on to the category that interests you.
  6. Cyberware - You can check the currently used implants.
  7. Cyberdeck - You can check the currently used operating system.
  8. Stats - You can check the 3 most important stats (health, armor, stamina) and open a window with more statistics.

Inventory - does it have limited capacity?

Yes, the space in your hero's equipment is limited – you have a specific capacity limit - Cyberpunk 2077: Equipment - Basics - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

Yes, the space in your hero's equipment is limited – you have a specific capacity limit. The weight of items in the inventory must not exceed V's maximum load capacity.

Information about the weight of each item is listed in its description. Large weapons and chest armor pieces weigh the most. There are also items that don't weigh anything. It is best to collect as many of them as possible – you will not have to think about what to do with them later.

You can, however, increase the load limit - permanently or temporarily. There are also different ways of getting rid of things that are not necessary at the moment. You can, for example, sell them, dismantle to obtain crafting materials, or put them in the drop point in V's apartment. All these methods are described in detail on the Weight capacity - how to increase? page.

Quick use

Cyberpunk 2077 has a quick use menu but it is for - Cyberpunk 2077: Equipment - Basics - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

Cyberpunk 2077 has a quick use menu but it is for:

  1. A maximum of three weapons placed in the active slots.
  2. Melee weapons or the use of offensive cyberware (e.g. Mantis Blades or Gorilla Fists).
  3. Consumables - grenades and medicine.

You can also smoothly switch between weapons and use shortcuts to activate gadgets. Simply use the method that suits you best.

Rarity tiers and item levels

The five rarity tiers are marked with specific colors - Cyberpunk 2077: Equipment - Basics - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

The five rarity tiers are marked with specific colors:

  1. Common - white.
  2. Uncommon - green.
  3. Rare - blue.
  4. Epic - purple.
  5. Legendary - orange.

The rarer the item category, the more interesting statistics and modification slots it can have.

The important information is that the newly found items scale to the player's level, i.e. they will be at a level close to V's and offer better statistics. This means that you need to upgrade weapons and armor or replace them with better items. Skipping this will make your weapons less effective against high-level opponents, and your armor will offer increasingly weaker defenses.

Cyberpunk 2077 also has iconic objects - Cyberpunk 2077: Equipment - Basics - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

Cyberpunk 2077 also has iconic objects. These are unique items that are always found in specific quests and locations. They may have unique features, but what is even more important, you always get blueprints to improve iconic items to higher rarity levels. This can make them serve you for much longer and will not become useless after leveling up a few times.

Is the loot random?

Yes and no. Here is how it works:

  1. Some items are always received as a reward or loot for defeating specific opponents. However, their statistics and rarity level may vary – this depends on V's current level. The higher the level, the more rare, exotic, and legendary items you will find.
  2. Iconic items are in predetermined places. Their statistics can be adjusted to V's current level, too.
  3. Regular loot found during a specific mission can change with each playthrough.
