You can unlock the Best Before Pursuit in Ingfell town in Gale Cliffs - this is the south-eastern part of the world map.
Dock in Ingfell. In the lower left corner of the screen you can start a conversation with Ingfell Resident. Select the dialogue option Do you need help with anything?. The woman will ask you to deliver Rotting Conger Eel.
Catching a Conger Eel
You can also catch the eel in the Gale Cliffs region, but:
- you must have a rod capable of fishing in shallow (eg. Simple Skimmer);
- you must go fishing at night because only then do eel fisheries appear.
You can identify Conger Eel fisheries by the eel icon - as shown in the picture above. It is worth using the Spyglass telescope to locate them faster.
An exemplary fishery from the picture is located in the southern part of Gale Cliffs - sail there from the west or the east site so you don't waste time looking for paths between the rocks.
More tips on finding eel can be found on a separate FAQ page: Where to catch Conger Eel?.
Obtaining Rotting Conger Eel
A caught Conger Eel initially has a Fresh condition.
You must make the eel rot because the quest giver will only accept it in this state. It's easy to do - store the fish in the Hold or Storage and wait about 2 days (you can use the rest option to speed up the time). The condition of the fish will first deteriorate to Stale, and eventually, Conger Eel will be in Rotting condition (example in the picture).
Returning to Ingfell Resident and completing the mission
Only now return to Ingfell to give the Ingfell Resident the rotting fish.
The reward for completing the Pursuit is $150.
